I disagree with the statement. Our modern world revolves around technology. As a teenager, i'm aware that technology is advancing even as we speak. We are living in a world whereby a handphone is a must to have. Without it, i'm sure many would feel lost. Even young kids nowadays owns a handphone. Therefore, i feel that handphones are now a must instead of a need.

I disagree! With the influence from parents and friends, how will a teenager like me don’t want to have a phone? How can we live without handphones? Who want to be left out of the advanced technology? 6 years old kid has a handphone and even knows how to send SMSes so how can we live in the world without handphones? How can we lose to a 6 years old kid? How can we be left out?

In the society now, everyone is capable of owning a handphone. Everywhere we go we will see them using their phone to chat, send SMS, take photo and listen to music. With the help of technology, handphones have become a multi function phone. It is an all in one phone with videos, mp3, camera or even a phone that we can surf the net. Who would want to bring a laptop, mp3, camera to where they go? Handphone are so convenience for us and it is easy to use. Handphone keeps us entertained. Handphone plays a part in our daily life, so how can we live without them?

I beg to differ, while i truly agree with Faizah and Teckhuat.

How can a teenager survive without a cellphone? Handphone used to be secondary need in the past. But now, it has become primary need for almost everyone. Even small kids and the elderly own handphone.

Mobile phone is so significant in human's life that the thought of living without it already hurts. It makes our life easier. We can reach people easily simply by pressing the call button.
We can note down important thing like time table, friends' birthday, meetings etc. An essential fact is that, it has even replaced the existence of a wristwatch!

Other functions like camera, calculator, internet, MP3, and many else requires us to own a handphone.
And we bring it almost everywhere we go, even when we are on the water closet or floating in the dreams to China. It stays beside us nevertheless.

With the existence of handphone, teenager can be more independent.
It is almost like an additional object gifted to us as extra storage, reminder, accompanying our life.

Handphones are made to enhance one's living. It is made for convenience. It is not necessary a NEED. We can still communicate with each other through letters, MSN, payphones, phones at home or meeting up. We should not be easily influence and just blindly following the majorities. We should make our own stand and do what we want. Therefore, I agree that teenagers today are fully capable of living without handphones. (even though i have one lol...)

I disagree with the statement. Handphones are becoming a must not only for teenagers and also adults.

The main purpose of handphones is for communication. Without handphones, it would be difficult to contact your friends. Although there are telephone booths available but they are not as convenient. Everywhere you go, you would see teenagers busy with their handphones.

To add on, handphones are serving not only as a communication tool. It is used as a camera,a mp3,an alarm clock and even a calculator.Handphones now even has storage purposes. This greatly interest teenagers to own them as it would be a multi-purpose tool for them.

Teenagers without handphones can be easily left out by the rest as you would be difficult to contact. Thus, handphones are a must for teenagers now.

I disagree with the statement.

Look around you, on the street, in the shopping centers, in schools, etc… Everyone has a handphone! Who can survive without a handphone? Take this case for example, one day you forgot to bring your handphone to school, will you feel very uneasy that you do not have one by your side?

Handphones not only can use for contacting but also as an entertainment! We can use them to take photos, listen to music, and even message to other people. Some people will find it troublesome to carry camera around as it is quite heavy, thus for convenience, they use handphone to take photos instead.

Secondly, handphone is very important to us. If there is any emergency, the people will contact us telling us about the emergency. Sometimes, parents will contact their children as they are worried about their safety.

In conclusion, handphone is a must in our daily life now.

I agree with the above statement. As in the past, not everyone can afford to have a handphone. People simply communicate with one another through telephone. Most of them tend to enjoy and treasure the use of telephone and did not take it for granted. However, due to technology change, handphones have become part of our live. Everyone can afford to purchases a handphone as it is cheap compare to the past. For teenagers, the majority of time spent on phone is used to chat on some meaningless topics. It only waste most of their precious time and drag them into a situation where they could not lift. In this way, it is better for them to get rid of cell-phone and focus themselves to what they need to do and gradually sense the necessity of cell-phone both emotionally and pragmatically. As some teenagers own handphone for fun, fashion and cool.

Generally speaking, handphone is simply a luxury for teenagers. The phone fee per month is quite costly for most of them. From a physical perspective, it is bad for teenagers' health and growth. As we know, mobilephone spread radiancy. Handphones are actually just another convenient tool for people. They can just call or message someone at any time and use other functions provided by the handphone. However, with such a situation, it can mean that the convenient that it bring make them become lazy and impatience. We do not need to walk to the nearest public phones and wait for our turn to make a call. Many of them get used to handphone and felt that it is important. They have the perception that we cannot live without handphones which is not true.

I do not think they will go suicide just because they do not have a handphone. If they did, it will consider as a silly action and not worthwhile. There are so many other meaningful things in our life. We can make use of computer to communicate with one another too. It is fast and efficient. There also other substitutes for handphones. T

Therefore, i feel that teenagers can live without handphones.

I disagree.

Teenagers today are incapable of living without a cellphone. Just look around you. There’ll be at least a few teenagers making calls, sending SMSes, taking photos, listening to music, and even playing games, all in just a tiny cellphone.

Look how fast our technology is advancing. Every once in a while there’ll be new phones popping out. It’s not just the teenagers who are having their own cellphones, children from 6 yrs way up to old people are also having one, and everybody are trying to get the lastest models.

Sometimes, it is because of peer pressure that make teenagers want to have their very own cellphone. They will try to get the latest and most expensive phone on the market and show it off to their friends. The next day, another teenager will show off his/her new cellphone to his/her friends. And the list goes on and on. Teenagers will try very hard to persuade their parents or guardians to get a new phone for them, or they will find a job to earn cash to buy a new one. Worst still, some even turn to stealing their friend’s cellphone!

If there is one teenage who can live without a cellphone on hand, wouldn’t people think he/she is just way too weird?

I disagree with the statement. With the improvement of technology in the modern world, handphone became one of the communication tools that we used.

With Handphone, we can contact a person easily. Instead of writing a letter to the person, which might take a few weeks to pass the message, we can now type a sms, which will take a few seconds to pass the message.

Compared to payphone, phone at home, MSN, etc, as mention by eden.
We may not be able to contact the person by using payphone,MSN, etc. As the person might be away from their computer, thus the message can only be pass to them when they log on into their computer. Also, we could not be able to find the person through payphone, right?

In conclusion, Handphone is more effective than the other communication tools. Therefore,
handphone is a must for everyone now, including teenagers.

I disagree with the statement, and agree with raymond too.

Nowadays everyone has been very dependent on their handphones. It has became a must. Even young children of primary school age are already carrying handphones. Their parents need to contact them most of the time. With handphones, we can contact each other easily, at anytime, anywhere.

Moreover, I agree with faizah too. In my view, i feel that as technology advances, we humans should grow too. In this way we will be able to catch up with the latest technology on hand.

Therefore handphones will still be a must for everyone.

I disagree with the above statement.

Nowadays, teenagers are so dependent on advanced technologies, which include handphones. Most of the handphones have built-in functions which people, including teenagers, are able to enjoy. Now, a handphone can be an MP3, camera, calendar for recording down appointments, and many other things.

Handphones have become a necessity in almost everyone’s life in the current world. In the past, handphones are used for merely making calls. Now, people buy handphones not only for communication purposes, but also for the functions, especially teens who mostly requires camera and MP3 built-in functions.

Handphones have been accompanying teenagers for almost whenever and wherever they are. With such functions which teenagers use almost everyday, it is difficult to see how teenagers will be able to live as per normal without handphones.

sy said...

I disagree with this statement to a large extent.

In this world that we live in, technology has made handphone become a all-in-one product. Functions in handphone includes playing games, listening to songs and music, messaging, surfing the internet, watching show and etc. The functions in handphones have the functions of radio, mp3, television, computer and etc. In addition, handphones are portable and can be a substitute for almost everything in our daily life. With such a product that provides convenience, entertainment and communication purposes, teenagers will find it hard to get rid of it and unable to live without handphones.

However, things always have exceptions. I believe that there are teenagers who are capable of living without handphones. One group is teenagers who come from poor families. To the teenagers, handphones are considered luxuries. In addition, handphone bills will add on to the burden of their parents. Therefore, due to the financial status, teenagers from these backgrounds are fully capable of living without handphones.

I believe teenagers today are capable of living without handphones because people of the past have shown us that this can be done. However, teenagers nowadays are pampered by the technological advances and the environment which cause them to lose this ability of living without handphones.

I disagree with this sentence.

It is unlikely to see a teen without handphone nowadays; it has become our daily necessity. We will bring it along with us no matter where we go. And there are quite a number of us who cannot live a day without our phones, as they may feel lost if they do not see them around.

In the world which we are living in, we seldom see anyone without a handphone, almost everyone ranging from a kindergarten kids up to an elderly. It has turned from a gadget to our friend. Despite its small size, it holds lots of function like cameras, MP3, calendars, games and other functions which we may think of. It brings us convenience so we would not need to bring a camera, a game player or a MP3 player with us when we are out.

Nowadays when we are walking on the road, on the bus, or even in school, we would see teens holding on to their handphone or listening to the music which they have put inside their phone using the MP3 function. It also allows parents or friends to locate us easily when we are out.

Furthermore, it has become a trend for each teen to hold a phone but there may be some who likes to show off their handphones to their peers, which is really bad for them to do that. As not everyone can afford the latest or the trendiest phone so it would only make people jealous of them.

So nowadays it would be really awkward if we happen to see a teen without a handphone except for some with exception.

Like many of the comments,I also disagree that "Teenagers today are fully capable of living without handphones"

As time passes in the modern society, the youngest age of people getting a handphone have been decreasing.During my time,I remember owning my first handphone when I was in primary six. However now, even a primary one student owns a handphone.I feel that one of reasons could be because of the increase in technology, the price of handphones are becoming cheaper. You could even get one for free where you only have to pay for the phone charges you use.

Thus,do you think that teenagers today can live without handphones?Absolutely not.Since young, they have been living with their handphone by their side wherever they go.They have become so used to communicating with their friends and family through the use of their handphone. If they were to live a day without their handphone,I think that they would feel a little empty inside as something seems to be missing in their lifes.Handphones has become part of their lifes so they cannot possible live without a handphone.

I agree to a certain extent that teens can live without handphones.

In my opinion, young teens such as those aged 13 or 14 do not require handphones. It can be seen in Singapore that more children are carrying and flaunting their handphones in public. At such a young age, these children do not understand the main usage of the handphones-that is, to be able to keep in contact with their parents anywhere, anytime.

However, I do agree that as children grow up and mature into teens who can think for themselves, the handphone is necessary to keep track with friends and family due to their hectic school life. Although many may think it ‘uncool’ to not own a handphone, it is disturbing to see an increasing number of primary school children owning new handphone models.

I agree with the statement.

Common beliefs are that teenagers will feel lost without handphones. Yet, i would like to stress that teenagers are too used to using gadgets like handphones, thus the thought of living without them are suffocating. Given time, one will still get accustomed to living life without handphones.

Recalling from a few years back when I didn't have a handphone, it did not felt like anything was missing. I could still live on happily. However, it seems that the fast pace of technology have led to the misconception that handphones are indispensable to teenagers.

Handphones are generally a want, not a need.

Teenagers nowadays are too spoilt, thinking that luxury is the way of life, thus making them too dependent on handphones. Nevertheless, living without handphones does not make your life sad, lonely or even meaningless. One can still communicate through the payphones, internet or even face-to-face.

I agree with Irene about her stand and thus I agree that teenagers today are fully capable of living without cell phones.

Cell phones are not readily available in the past. Yet, the people could still live without it. It is only when cell phones are invented, more and more people started using them because some find cell phones trendy, others find that using them will be more convenient.

However, I feel that cell phones are what we want and not we need actually. Gladys said that students as young as primary one are using cell phones. Let's think about it. Why do primary ones need the cell phone for? This is totally unecessary since they are so young and a phone is not much of much use to them. Instead, there is a higher chance of them being robbed of their cell phones. They will be spoilt more easily too. If the parents want to reward their children for doing well in an examination for example, I believe cell phone is not the only reward.

By letting their children to have a chance to use cell phones as young as in primary schools, this created a belief that teenagers cannot live without cell phones because this is the only way to communicate with each other. Teenagers have thus been dependent on cell phones ever since then.

Let's say, if cell phones are not invented at all, does it mean that it has come to the end for everyone? I beg to differ. Life still goes on.

Furthermore, like what Irene has said, if we were to add up the phone bills, it could mount to hundreds or even thousands of dollars for those with heavy usage of cell phones. This money could be spent on our needs, or even be saved in our bank for rainy days.

Thus, I believe that teenagers can live without cell phones. With public phone booths, it will still be as convenient.

I disagree that teenagers today are fully capable of living without handphones.

In today's society, everywhere one turns, one would be able to spot individuals using handphones regardless the age.

In the past, the main aim of owning handphone is for a faster mean of communicating with people. This is because using public phones can be very inconvenient to use especially when one has an emergency. One may not have spare change or phonecards on them to make a call. Sometimes the phones may be faulty or an inconsiderate person will be hogging on the phone.

However, with technology advancing so rapidly in this society, handphones are equipped with not only with communication functions but entertainment functions like camera, music player. Furthermore, it is also designed in such a way it looks sleek and stylish. This attracts teenagers to want to own a handphone even more.

In addition to this, nowadays children aged seven or even younger owns a handphone. Therefore, being exposed to using handphones at such a young age will cause them to develop the dependency on handphones as they grow older.

In conclusion, teenagers today are not fully capable of living without handphones.

I disagree.

The world today is so advanced in technology that the teenagers cannot survive without it. The teenagers nowadays are competing with the world, without a hand phone would mean disconnect with the world.

Hand phone is appearing to be a prerequisite as it is the very basic of the technology. As the information is quickly updated now and then, the people without the basic would be “outdated”.

The hand phone is the quickest way of connecting without people. Without it, I am sure that the world would be in chaos try to send the message across. It has also been built to incorporate tools like camera, calculators and much more. With this, people are having everything on the palm of his/her hands.

This has proved that a hand phone is indispensable to our daily life, whether it is communication or obtaining information.

As you go along the street, schools, shopping mall, you will see everyone holding onto a handphone. Even kids such as primary schools students nowadays are having a better handphone than their parents.

When a teenager who does not have a handphone, they will get look down by their friends around them.

Even primary school kids, such as a primary 2 student know all the function of the handphone well, they even know how to download song. Parents nowadays also felt lost because they have to ask their children on how the handphone function work.

So, we need to have a handphone in order to survive in this world.

I disagree with the statement. In our modern society, technology is everything. We cannot leave without technology because of the huge amount of information we have to exchange with one another. One such example is the handphone. Handphone allows us to communicate and share information with one another in the shortest amount of time, which is sometimes instant. Imagine the world without handphones and the transmission of information may have to take hours or even days. How can teenagers live with that when they have so much to communicate and share with their peers.

handphone have become a need instead of a neccessity in our daily lives.moreover the handphone contains funtions that we need as we go aound, such as, phonebook, cammera, mp3.the handphones simply makes one life easier by combining all our mp3 players, our diary, etc into one small simple device.

thus i think that teenagers nowadays are too reliant on handphones.

In the past, maybe teenagers are able to do without the handphone. However, in the modern world, NO WAY!!!!

Some people may say that we buy handphones to keep up with the trend, however, this is not the case. I feel that handphones are a necessity because it is the only mean that allows us to be contactable by other people. Without handphones, it would be inconvenient for us and we may not be notified of the important news and this may result in disastrous situations.

There are also other functions of the handphone that makes our life more enjoyable such as the mp3 player, the radio tuner, the camera etc. These are extra functions that makes our lifes more enjoyable.

I think handphone is one of corresponding tools, and it is to make the communication better.

Without it we also can live well. Whether we can live is not depend on whether we have a handphone. Some people without the electricity can live well; the handphone just is a tool to communicate. Before the electricity was invented, the people lived well.

Now it is a very developed time, we can live better and better, handphone also become part of our life, but we do not have to live with a handphone. Without it the teenagers are capable of living.

Let's take a minute to look around us. How many people do you see not owning a mobile phone? Sometimes one but most of the time NONE.

Mobile phone has already become a part of our daily lives. We can't live without our mobile phone for a day least to say a week.

Mobile phones has evolved from big to small to even smaller. Thick to thin to even thinner. Previously camera, radio, internet and other high class applications do not exists, now manufacturers are trying to squeeze as many into a small mobile phone.

Overall, what is the mobile phone used for? It is a communication device.

So would people own a phone that can only be used for calling each other or have other applications that can be equals to a Mp3, camera, computer all add together?

It is impossible to live in this society without having a phone. Since we are so dependent on them.

It allows us to contact each other in the fastest way at the shortest time with just a need to press the numbers into our phone and call.

Handphone has functions such as storing of numbers, which make us even easier to make a call. Not only storing of numbers, it can also be used as mp3 and camera. Therefore, I disagree that teenagers are fully capable of living without handphone.

I disagree to a large extent to ‘Teenagers today are fully capable of living without handphones’.

As our teenagers are living in an advanced develop country. Handphones are one of the most useful products and fully developed that gradually become part of our life. Furthermore, handphones are reasonably affordable in our country. Hence, it is extreme prevalence for all of us to own a handphone and some even have more than one.

In illustration, handphones are not longer only our communication tools, whereas they had multiple functions which replace numerous numbers of technologies products. For instances; built-in camera, recorder, calendar, reminder, organizer, alarm clock, storing tool, internet suft tool and etc. All functions are so readily available for us, and naturally our teenagers will take it for granted and make use of these especially the organiser which schedule their everyday programmes. Eventually, handphones had become a role of their “nanny”, which taken care of their daily routine. Hence, it is understandably so that handphones had become their ‘need’ instead of ‘want’.

So let us portrait a scenario. A teenager misplaces their handphone and unable to replace within a period. How does he/she survive in this phase? They are more likely to be a ‘disable’ person without their ‘nanny’ to remind and organise their time. Every thing will go out of their ways, merely a destruction stage for them.

In summary, we are still doubted in our teenagers with their capability in surviving without their ‘nanny’. Handphones are not just speed up every process of our life but it have also greatly perfect-ionize our life.

If does not have the hand phones, how can you do work and survive? Hand phones are necessary in our lives now. The hand phones are the remote control in the modern life. Speaking of too many people, the hand phone’s function is also bigger than PC machine. Many teenagers have hand phones but no PC. They use the hand phones to keep in touch with families, friends, teachers. With a hand phone, you can find someone quickly. Let others know the first news and information.

On the other hands, the computer’s function is the most formidable equipment, but the hand phone is the most universal equipment. They can take a photo, listen to music, playing games, searching internet. It is easy to use for teenagers.

Communication between friends and family is essential for us teenagers, handphones makes communicating easier. With functions like saving numbers of others, sending SMSes, video calls and even a simple call etc. you communicating with your friend/family is just a few buttons away.
