I agree. We should not diet. We should exercise.

If we want to live healthy we should exercise and eat healthy instead of dieting.

Dieting won't help us to keep fit. It only just makes us look thin. Singapore is like a food heaven, how can one be dieting and not enjoying their life? Why torture themselves by eating less or even not eating?

We must enjoy our life by eating as per normal and at the same time exercise and eat healthy to stay healthy.

I disagree. Diet and exercise should work hand in hand in order to help us to keep fit and healthy.

Controlling of our diet is important, especially for people who are overweight. Without controlling our diet,no mather how much exercise we have, it will not make any different. The amount of calories in take might be alot more than the calories that is being released when we have our exercise. Thus, causing obesity as a result.

Enjoying life with a healthy body(by having a healthy diet and exercising regularly) will definitely take u to another dimension of life.

I agree with Raymond that diet and exercise should be done together but it would depend on wthat is your final purpose.

If you simply want to slim down, both dieting and exercising should be done. What is the use if you exercise but you do not take note of your diet? You wuold not be able to slim down.

However,if your purpose is to stay healthy, exercising would be sufficient. Like what Teck Huat said,Singapore is a food haven, thus it would be good to enjoy life and not torture yourself.

I disagree. Both should be done together to maintain a healthy lifestyle. To maintain a healthy lifestyle,we should even out the among of input and output in our body.
Input is our diet while output is exercise. If we eat too much and exercise too little,it might cause health problem such as obesity, diabetes and so much more.Vice versa. If we eat too little and exercise too much,it might cause health problem such as anorexia
Yherefore a well balance between exercise and diet is require to maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle.

I agree with the sentence that we should exercise instead of dieting.

Firstly, why must we diet? I do not see a need in dieting. Yes, we would like to have a good appearance but dieting will lead you to some negative effects. If you want to be thin and healthy, you should exercise instead of dieting as exercising is a much healthier way of keeping fit and healthy. Don’t you agree? For overweight people, they should exercise more and control their diet and not dieting as dieting may lead you to having some health problems, like weaken your immune system and cause you to lose concentration in your work.

Secondly, when someone do not like to exercise, and when they start to do it, they will find that exercising is actually very fun, as you get to know what kind of sports you like.

However, I feel that we also cannot just exercise. We had to have a balanced diet too.

Thus, exercising and dieting must be balanced in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle!

I disagree.

I think dieting and exercising should be done together. Because if one exercises and do not diet what would be the use of exercising?

Although exercising helps to keep us fit and healthy, there will still be people who indulge themselves after the calories burning session so it defeat the purpose of exercising in the first place. When we exercise, we should also have a balanced diet especially for those who are overweight so as to regain a healthy life.

So we should diet and exercise at the same time to achieve the best result.

i agree. I always thought that going on a diet should be anyone's last option.
Dieting could cause our body to loose
the nutrients it needed to operate well. This would let us fall sick easily and feel weak.
Hence, we should continue eating the right amount and at the same time doing exercises. We would loose weight and at the same time feel much more healthy.

I disagree. I say that's nothing wrong with dieting. Its just some people preference. Do you believe that if you say that dieting is bad, will people stop dieting, I doubt so.

Also dieting can also test your will control over certain things. Remember, dieting is control over the things you eat.

Dieting and exercise are the best combination to lose weight, if those people are trying to lose weight through dieting.

But I must emphasis that dieting should be done by people that have obesity. Why should some people without obesity take dieting, is it ti have a better figure? This will jeopardize their health if they do so. Therefore I plead this group of people do not diet. There are better ways to get a better figure.

If you are skeptical, you can always ask a expert.

I disagree with the above statement.

What’s the use of exercising if you do not control your amount of food intake? And what’s the use of controlling your diet if you don’t exercise? I fully agree with Raymond that diet and exercise should work hand in hand in order to keep ourselves fit and healthy.

Take for example, a person who wants to slim down keeps on exercising but do not control his or her diet. It will turn out to be futile in the end because he or she does not take note of his or her amount of food intake

Take for another example, a person who controls his or her diet but does not exercise. The person may be successfully slim down. But he or she is still unhealthy because of the exercise that he or she has lacked.

Therefore, I believe that we can enjoy having a healthy life by having a healthy diet and exercising regularly.

The Suitcase said...

I disagree and strongly think that we should eat healthily and exercise at the same time in order to lead a balance lifestyle.

Just by exercising and not eating healthy will not keep our body in good conditions or fit.

For instance, a person whom exercise regularly do not know how to control his/her diet by eating food that is high is sugar, fats, salt etc. that would lead to health problems like heart disease, cholestrol, diabetes and more. All the effort he/she has put in for exercising will be gone down to drain.

Therefore, we must be health conscious with our diet as well as to exercise frequently in order to maintain a balanced lifestlye.

I disagree that "we should not diet, we should exercise".

Like what many of the comments said that we should watch our diet and exercise at the same time to keep fit and healthy. If we were to just exercise and eat anything that we like, it seems to be wasting our time to exercise because we would gain back all the calories that we have burned off while exercising and maybe even more. In order to burn off the calories for eating a double patty cheeseburger, extra large fries and a 24-oz soda (1500 calories), it is equivalent to running two and a half hours at a ten minute/mile pace.So just imagine, how tough it is to maintain a healthy lifestyle if we only exercise and not watch our diet.

Cai Jing from DAC/1B/07:

I agree with Chuzen that we should keep a healthy diet and exercise regularly.

Personally I feel that just exercising would not be beneficial for our body if we do not monitor our diet. Eating high cholesterol and fattening food would not keep us healthy although we exercise. I think that monitoring our diet and exercising are the two essential needs for us to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Hence, I do not agree with the statement that we should not diet. Especially if one is obese, he should be controlling his daily diet and exercise regularly to cut down his weight.

I agree that we should exercise instead of going on a diet.
In my opinion, exercising is enough to maintain the body weight and is effective in building up muscles. On the other hand, when dieting, you have to refrain from consuming the food suitable for your taste while being forced to eat items you dislike. As a strong believer that eating should be a joy, diets should definitely not be used.

It might also be dangerous for those who rarely go on diets as gastric pains could occur. I do not think that there is any good in getting painful side effects and then spending money to heal your body. When exercising, the heart is more active and body fats and salts in the body can be released. It is also a healthier, more relaxing and less painful way of losing or maintaining weight.

Hui Yan from DAC/1B/07:

I agree that we should exercise instead of going on a diet.

Losing weight occurs when more calories are burned than consumed. Hence, one can choose either to diet and control the food intake or to exercise and increase the burn rate. The latter may be a better choice.

Exercising is the key to a healthy lifestyle.

When on a diet, it usually makes the person feel hungrier, which will then cause him/her to eat more than what he/she normally eats. Thus I feel that dieting is not an effective way to a healthy living.

To add, improper dieting proves to be harmful. Dieters often pay too much attention on eating less that they deprive their bodies of important vitamins and proteins.

To conclude, exercising not only helps the person to keep fit, it also reduces the risk of diseases. It improves psychological well-being, enhancing work, recreation, and sport performance. Thus, I feel that we should exercise instead of dieting as dieting would be torturous. Risks of improper dieting may occur too.

I agree that we should not diet and we should exercise.

Exercising is a good healthy lifestyle compare to dieting. As all of us know, every part of Singapore you go, you will see food everywhere. A dieting person will get hungry too, so if he/she sees all the food around them, they will eat and a dieting person will get hungrier and therefore he/she will eat more.

A dieting person will also loose all it proteins and vitamins which is one of the most important a body must take. Without all these proteins and vitamins, a dieting person will get sick easily and therefore their healthy has decreases.

Most of the dieting people force themselves not to eat and why should them torture themselves?

In order to have a healthy lifestyle, we should eat and at the same time exercise too.

In conclusion, we should exercise instead of diet, so that we have enough proteins and vitamins.

Dieting, but what kind of dieting?

Dieting as in under the supervision of a doctor or a nutritionist? Maybe its the kind where people simply starve themselves to death in order to lose those calories quickly.

Dieting(starving)causes one not to have a balanced diet which means a lack of nutrients. This will lead to a weaker immunity system and one's chances of falling ill will increase.

But if that person is under supervision, he/she will probably be advised to do some exercising at the same time.

Why exercise? To keep fit, lose weight, improve your appearance etc. Dieting alone will only succeed at making one look like they have anorexia or nothing happens.

Dieting is only a supplement at best and should only be applied on certain food advised by the experts. For example, excess carbohydrates will cause one to become overweight.

That is why we should exercise and not just go on a diet and why i agree to the statement to a large extent.

J@cK™ said...

I disagree.

I am agreeing with Raymond that diet and exercise should be combined together to achieve the optimum results.

Firstly, diet comes in different types of ways. The unhealthy way would be eating less and less than what you are required to eat. Another way is to exercise self-discipline by eating oily foods in moderation.

Secondly, just dieting alone is insufficient to make to lose weight. By not doing exercises, the excess calories will still be there even if you eat healthily. Exercise will make u sweat and release the excess fats from your systems and make to slim down. Exercising is also not enough without a proper diet as calories is taken in more than it is given out.

In conclusion, to maintain a healthy lifestyle to achieve a better figure is does by both dieting and exercising.

I feel that in order to live a healthy lifestyle, one has to exercise regularly and eat well, which is also known as dieting.

the definition of dieting is the deliberate selection of food to control body weight or nutrient intake. Comparing to and old saying " too much of anything will harm the body" dieting is actaully a good thing. But super star celebrities are making dieting look as if they are eating one apple a day. That is totally incorrect. Thus people would have this misconception that dieting is to eat as little food as possible to lose weight as fast as possible.

Exercising plays a huge part in keeping fit. exercising boosts stamina and muscle strength. it helps one to maintain good skin and good blood circulation.

But to be healthy, exercising and dieting comes hand in hand. without each other, one would be useless or extremely ineffective.

thus, exercising and dieting are very important and we shouldn't just exercise or just diet.

I disagree with the statement. I agree with Raymond that diet and exercise should be done together to keep us fit and healthy.

Just plain dieting will only keep us slim but will never make us fit. On the other hand, if we only exercise and don't watch our diets, we will not get the full effect of exercising.

Thus, dieting and exercising should be done together to get the maximun effect. One without another is like eating rice without vegetable, it will only fill your stomach but it will never give you enough nutrient that you need.

I agree that we should exercise, but I don’t totally agree that we should not diet.

Exercise helps to keeps us fit and healthy. It will also improve our immune system, increase our metabolism, and helps us build strong muscles. Exercise will decrease our stress level and let us feel relaxed. However, all of the above will work only if we are able to commit exercise long-term.

It is not true that we totally should not go on diet. It all depends on what kind of diets are we referring to. Is it the Atkins diet? How about the no carb, no fats diet? Those diets that I’ve just mentioned are bad for our health. However, it is quite famous among the teenage girls who want to get skinnier today. If commit long-term, it will lead to more weight gain and more health problems will come in the later years. It is still best to keep a healthy diet. Have two servings of fruits and vegetables everyday and eat less of oily stuffs. Still, it is best to eat all food in moderation, as seen from the pyramid label.

Combining healthy eating with exercising, you will have the ultimate healthy lifestyle.

We should not diet. It's an unhealthy way to lose weight as it'll cause malnutrition. Without the necessary vitamins, some of our body parts will not function as well. By exercising, one will lose weight more than dieting and also feel better.

I agree that we should not diet but instead exercise.

The benefit of exercise is that we could build up more muscle and improve our immune system which prevent us from many illness.

During our process of growing up. we should not diet as we need the nutrient for many purposes like keeping our body fit and to keep ourselves from falling sick.

The best combination of keeping ourselves healthy and fit is to exercise regularly and eat wisely in moderation. However this is not the case in our modern society. This can be seen from many advertisement introducing slimming pill and product implying that many people choose to diet instead of exercising.

Dieting will cause our body to be deprive of certain nutrient and is bad especially during puberty period.

Most imporantly, what matter is that we must have high self-esteem. feels good and look good, be yourself.Don't ruin the healthy body that god gave us but treasure it.

I disagree to a large extent. ’We should not diet. We should exercise’

In define of the term dieting; it is an intake restriction to specific foods .Generally, a selection of healthy foods, greenish, fruits and low-cholesterols products are more preferable. Hence, dieting is not referring in meals skipping or starves ourselves up. This is unhealthy type of dieting.

Although, it is agreeable that we should exercise in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but it should come hand in hand together with a healthy diet. Are we able to maintain healthy weight when we are indulging frequently with tit-bits, chocolate and junks foods? Often people assume that a few workouts will aid in burning all the fat consumption.

In fact, this is a fatal mistake. For instance, a small bar of chocolate which contains at least 500 calories and a normal body only required a maximum of 2000 calories intake per day. There will be a further reduction to 1500 calories intake per day for people who under a slimming programmed. If there are excessive calories, body will absorb and ultimately converse into body fats. So by reckoning and estimating the calories intake, a few workouts will not burn all the calories which accumulate days after days.

Furthermore, only exercising without proper diet, body fats will gradually conversed into muscles which are much heavier .Ultimately; we will also suffer from the problem of obesity.

In conclusion, maintaining a healthy BMI (body mass index) will not be an easy task for everyone. However, we should control our diets and in correspond with hours of workout

I agree with the statement above. Dieting is not advisable as it is unhealthy. Most people think that dieting is the solution to lose weight. They think that by not eating, they would not grow fat. That is where they are wrong.

In fact, the best way to maintain a good figure is by having balanced meals and exercise regularly. By taking in healthy meals, our body will obtain proteins, vitamins, calcium etc. These provides energy to our body and enhances on our immune system.

If we go on dieting, we won't have sufficient amount of nutrients in our body, and our body will be unfit. Without nutrients, we will not have the energy to exercise too. Therefore, by dieting you will not live a healthy lifestyle.

Hence, i do agree that people should not diet but instead exercise to stay healthy and prevent themselves from any diseases.

I disagree.

Diet isn't contrary with exercise. Diet doesn't mean we must be hungry. It just makes us not eating too much, so that we won't get obesity, diabetes and so on.

Porper eating is good for us to keep healthy; and doing exercise is also considered good for our healthy. If we can get the balance well between these two, we can catch the healthy.

From my point of view, dieting is harmful to one's body. But eating healthily and exercising frequently is the safer and more balanced lifestyle that everyone should follow.

Just like what Raymond and Chuzen say. The most important thing is to take control of your own diet. No matter how much you exercise, the things you put in your mouth always have the final say.

Finally, exercise regularly not when you like it you do it.

Perseverance is the key to losing weight. You reap what you sow...

I do not agree. Dieting correctly and exercising at the same time will bring about a healthier lifestyle.

By dieting correctly, it means to cut down on fried and oily food, and eating more of vegetable, fruit and or other boiled and steamed items. However, dieting should not be taken to the extremes, such as skipping lunch or dinner, nor avoid eating rice, noodles and other food that is rich in carbohydrate totally. This will cause the body to malfunction and lead to a situation whereby the person is always feeling lethargic, and worse yet, anorexia.

Exercising aids in blood circulation which always leaves the person feeling better about himself. It also helps to burn calories which is useful when a person wants to slim down.

Therefore, dieting AND exercising are factors for a healthy lifestyle.

In fact,in order to have a good build, some people, especially girls do diet.I think that wiil harm their body.If some people want to have a good build ,they can choose to eat healthy food and do more exercise.

Doing more exercise can help people have a healthy body and can achieve the effect of downsizing.

Thus,we should not diet and do more exercise.

I agree that we should not diet and we should exercise. That is the healthy way of life. We need to have balance diet and exercise regularly in order to stay healthy. If we diet, it is the unhealthy way to lose weight therefore we must not diet and exercise more.
