Yes i agree with the statement.

From sports to business, our government is inviting foreign talents into Singapore. They convince us that we need the forige talent to help our economy prosper but in my opinion i think that they have forgotten about our local talents. Many have venture abroad to seek their fortune.

However i think that it takes two hand to clap. The government brings in foreign talent because we ourselve are going overseas. Our local talents are leeking out therefore we can only bring in foreign talents. Vice versa, Local talents are complaining that they are not being ultilise fully in Singapore and therefore they go abroad.

I agree with this statement to a certain extent.

Singapore is a country with people as her resources. Therefore it is very important that there are talents to help the country prosper. The only way to do so is to invite foreign talents. Foreign talents introduce new technologies and skills to the people in Singapore. The technologies and skills bring Singapore to a better position globally.

However Singapore also spend money to nurture the local talents. In terms of sports, Singapore Sports School is established to help to nurture children who are gifted in sports. In terms of students, NUS High School is established to help students who excel in Mathematics and Science.

Foreign talents and local talents are equally important to Singapore because they help to push Singapore to a new height.

"Dear Mummy,I am feeling very sad. Today in school, Zhong Guoren — my classmate from China — beat me again, in a math test. That boy is an unstoppable genius machine." This portion of the article which i chanced upon is from mr brown's "Life is getting scary, Mummy". Reflecting on this made me reminisce the times when I as a secondary school student was constantly being outclassed and outperformed by the students from china. It also does remind me that not long ago, most singaporeans were worried that job opportunities were being snatched away by these foreign talent. Today, foreigners are everywhere in our work force, but is singapore too dependent on them?

In the 2000 national day rally speech, our prime minister stressed the importance of being a competitive country and one way to remain ahead is to attract the best talent from other countries. Statistics have also shown that almost 40% of the labour force are non-singaporeans. We cannot refute the fact that singapore today is highly dependent on foreign talent, but to me, these foreigners do indeed contribute greatly our economy. We, Singaporeans learnt and benefited from the new skills and ideas brought in by foreigners and i believed it would be in the best interest of Singapore if these foreign talent can one day call Singapore their home.

I agree that Singapore is too dependent on foreign talents.

However due to the shortage of manpower, we have no choice but to invite as many foreigners as possible to work in Singapore. Moreover Singaporeans tend to be very choosy when choosing ,resulting in some jobs fields to have shortage of manpower. Hence inviting foreign talents are unavoidable.

More and more Singapore talents choose not to work and stay in Singapore and immigrate to other countries, resulting in shortage of local talents. Therefore Singapore has to invite foreign talents.

I agree with the statement to a large extent. The government has been emphasizing in the importance of attracting foreign talents ever since they saw that Singapore population wasn't increasing despite the population policies.

By inviting more foreign talents to Singapore, Yes, they would help to boost Singapore's economy. However, if all the important positions in the company are taken up by foreign talents, it would mean that there will be fewer positions available for our local talents. This results in these local talents migrating to other countries in search of better job oppotunities.

Thus, our government should also encourage our local talents to stay in Singapore by giving them some special treatments like special bonus at the end of the year.

i do agree with the above comment. Its true that singapore is too dependent on foreign talent. But it has every reason to do so.Singapore as a very small workforce. We need foreign talent as we dont have a workforce with all the specialised skill required in different areas of the industries.Although there is competition for jobs among locals n foreigners,Singapore's local workforce does not have all the skills needed industries these days and also our workforce is too small
