I disagree! How can Singapore be a boring city? The government is trying to build IR and the F1 tracks which will be ready in a few years. This will also add more choices to our life for us to enjoy. Just look at Sentosa, last time they used to have a musical fountain and now it was replaced by Song of The Sea. Isn’t it something attractive and new? In the past few years, many more choices have been added into our life. Example in 2002, esplanade was being built. Esplanade brings us the best concert, arts or even musical shows from around the world. Each concert, musical show or even arts are only shown and displayed for a period of time and after that it will be changed. We can enjoy the best concerts from various part of the world here in our homeland, isn’t something very special and interesting? Didn’t it add more colours and choices to our life? Isn’t Singapore an interesting city rather than boring city? Isn’t Singapore coming out with something new every time?
I disagree. If you are think that Singapore is boring, its probably that are not enough " attraction " places at the moment. I believe that the government has plans to develop these " attraction " places. They have to do this sooner or later because it will attract more tourists and thus boosting the economy which the government always wished for.
And besides, which of us has truly explored the whole of Singapore and daresay that Singapore is boring? If you explored the whole of Singapore, maybe you will think that Singapore is not boring at all. Trying visiting Sungei Buloh or Pulau Ubin, these places are interesting.
By the way, please specify which part of Singapore is boring. It can't be the whole Singapore that is boring. We will then try to improve on the specific area.
I agree to a certain extend. Singapore is a boring city compare to other areas like Japan or Australia. These countries have attractions from beautiful scenery to theme parks. How can we compare with them?
However, Singapore also has its own unique cultures and facilities that brings out our own taste and history. Our mixed culture, unique only to Singaporeans. Tell me how many countries have these harmony within the different culture living in the same community.
Furthermore, our government is continuously Upgrading and building more attractions to make Singapore and vibrant and bustling place to live in. With the Ir resorts, F1 races are just some of the activities coming our way.
I agree to a certain extent that Singapore is a boring city. For example, when i took train to school everyday, all i see is buildings and HDB flat. There isn't much scenery to view as i think Singapore has limited land space. Secondly, shopping centres in Singapore is getting more and more but aren't they selling the same things over and over again? There is no sense of freshness.
However, the government is making their effort in making Singapore a unique city by introducing the IR, F1, Esplanade and more. Moreover the unique-ness in Singapore is that we are a multi-racial and religion country that are living in harmony. Any country in the world are like us?
Every person is unique. The same goes to every place. I believe Singapore also has her unique features.
If Singapore is a boring city, people from other countries will not come to Singapore. To the tourists, Singapore is new to them. It is this curiosity that makes them want to come to Singapore for a new experience.
I do not believe the entire Singapore is such a boring place. The places of interests in Singapore are for kids and tourists. There are chalets for young generation. There are shopping centres and even community centres for retirees and those who wish to take up a skill
The reason people thinks Singapore is boring is because they stay in Singapore for too long. Similarly, if somebody eats biscuits for too long, he or she will grow tired of the biscuits. Staying in Singapore for too long may make some people feel bored. People like new experience and items. The sense of freshness in new experience and items cause the person to have the sense of curiosity. That is why when we go overseas, we are curious of everything around us.
I partly disagree with chuzen. If u are overseas studying and you need to take train to school everyday, you will sure get bored seeing the same beautiful scenery over and over again. In other countries, some of their train is totally traveling in a tunnel. And what u can see is only a dark piece of tunnel and nothing else. That’s even worse don't you think?
As for shopping malls, majority are selling the same things over and over again. But what is the main purpose for shopping centres to be built all over Singapore? It is for our convenience. Who would be so free to spent time traveling to buy things? There is sure a different shop in every shopping centre. But, maybe it doesn’t interest you or suit your purpose.
I disagree to a certain extent that Singapore is a boring city. This is because Singapore has been trying its best to make use of its small and limited land space to build different types of entertainment for us Singaporeans and of course, including tourists.
An example is the intergrated resorts that is in the process of building,in Sentosa and Marina.Im sure that it is going to be one of the hot tourist spots in future.Singapore is also known as a food paradise, where many different types of food from almost all over the place is available. The last but not least is shopping, which is one of the women's favourite activities. Now, with the newly built Vivo City and the popular Orchard Road adding to the long list of shopping centres available in Singapore, has become a place where many people could just walk around and enjoy the crowded and beautiful environment created, especially after work or school.
With so many types of entertainment available in Singapore,Im sure that Singapore is not a boring city.
This statement about Singapore being boring is absolutely unfounded
This is apparent with the gradual increase of foreign visitors choosing Singapore as their holiday destination. Year by year after the SARS crisis, the number of foreign visitor is increasing. Not just so, even Singaporeans are discovering more new and fun places to for weekend’s enjoyment or entertainment.
For example the upcoming ferris wheel in Singapore, it provides Singaporeans with another option of places to go for experience. Furthermore, the F1 grand prix will be a potential tourist attraction in the following year. It provides entertainment for those who loves motor racing.
All these come to conclude that Singapore is a highly enjoyable and fun place to be in and not boring as stated.
Yes! Singapore is indeed a boring country. Why did I say so? Look around you. Almost everywhere you go, you can only see HDB flats, shopping centers and high rise building. What else can you see? Basically, there is all you can see.
Take Singapore’s shopping centers for example, I do not doubt that there are a lot of shopping centers being build up in Singapore. However, it is the products and shops that are very common. Like from one shopping center to another, you will see that they are selling the same products. Maybe their prices are different. Now, things selling in Singapore are getting very expensive. Who will buy them? Ok, maybe the rich people and tourists will buy them. For the rest of us, we will think twice before buying.
Secondly, unlike Bintan, Singapore do not have any resorts for Singaporeans and tourist to relax and have a holiday there. Yes, I agree that Singapore is small, thus there is no space for any resorts. However, I think that they can come up with something interesting which other countries could not think of.
To conclude, I feel that they should come up with something fresh.
I do not agree that Singapore is a boring city. Well, maybe Singapore is boring because it does not have beautiful scenery such as mountains etc. However, this does not conclude that Singapore is a boring city! Just take a walk along Orchard Road, especially on the weekends, the pathways are always crowded with people and sometimes there will be street performances like magic performances and musical performances. Shopping centers are everywhere at Orchard Road, ranging from branded goods like Louis Vuitton, Prada and Chanel, to more affordable goods located at Far East Plaza, Lucky Plaza etc.
For a getaway from the hustling and bustling of a city, you can seek some quietness at Clarke Quay or even near the Esplanade where you have a clear view of the Merlion from afar.
Apart from these, there are places such as the Night Safari, Zoological Garden, Jurong Bird Park and Sentosa where people can enjoy over there.
Thus, in what way is Singapore a boring city? Singapore is one the smallest country in the world, and yet with the Changi Airport known for its first-class service and so many enjoyable places, I dare to say that Singapore is not a boring city at all.
Furthermore, two Intergrated Resort projects are going to be completed soon in a few years’ time. So is Singapore still considered as a boring city?
I have to agree with this statement wholeheartedly.
From a tourist's point of view, I can visit the whole of Singapore within 2-3 days at a good pace. Sentosa, Chinatown, Little India, Fort Canning, a few of the estates to try the local food, maybe the fish farm in Lim Chu Kang, the esplanade, the changi murals and that is about it.
From a local's point of view, I will head to Orchard Road for entertainment, but how long will that last when i have walked up and down the streets quite a few times already? I certainly will not be heading to cultural places as it happens to be part of some Singaporeans' lives. And there is certainly not much to do in the neighbourhood.
The local television programmes lack creativity whereas the sports scene is not doing too well when compared to the likes of Europe etc. Basically nothing interesting to watch from a local production and having access to weekly events like the English Premier League kills off any thought about watching the local sports scene on a long term basis.
I agree to a large extent that Singapore is a boring country. No matter where we walk, it will always be the same few things in the streets, be it in the town or other places. No doubt, The IR and F1 tracks that is coming up in Singapore makes life a bit more interesting in Singapore. However, do u think that people in Singapore will not be tired of all these in a few years time? The newly built IR, F1 tracks as well as the esplanade, these are just mainly customising to tuorist's needs, not making Singapore a more interesting city.
In conclusion, i feel that Singaporeans are living in a boring city but we must carry on in our life and think positively. That will make our own life more interesting and not boring.
The difference between Singapore and say Taiwan, Indonesia and even Malaysia is the lack of land space and maybe weather wise.
Look at our country's neighbours; Malaysia have mountains and vast land, they are able to build a 'City of Entertainment' Genting. Able to turn Langkawi into a water sports destination.
Indonesia is made up a several islands with Bali as the most popular place. They are able to build huts on water and the peaceful and serene beauty of the water adds to the popular relaxing destination.
Look further from Singapore, with Taiwan's weather quite similar to ours. They are able to attract people all over the world to view their Allishan, their own tribe's culture and of course FOOD.
What Singapore have and maybe they don't is the surplus of money. If the government is able to build the Singapore flyer, then huts on water at Sentosa is nothing to them.
Most Singaporeans have visited the NATAS travel fair for fear of staying in town with all the usual sights and food. With South Korea and Japan being the popular destination this year. People are willing to pay money and escape the reality that their country is really boring.
Everyday is a routine; going to work and coming back from work. With Saturday and Sunday as sleeping late days.
Overall, I think the most important factor is the weather. Why do people go to Japan in April? To see the Sakura. Why do people go to Switzerland or Korea in December and January? To go skiing and experience REAL snow. And why do people go to temperate countries in Autumn? To see the leaves on the trees change their colours.
I strongly agree that Singapore is an extremely boring country.
For a teenager, Singapore is very boring compared to countries like Australia or USA. They have tonnes of events for teenagers such as parties. They cater to the needs of teenagers.
but in singapore, the government is too involved with upgrading their economical industries and tourism. they have missed out that teenagers live a life too. singaporean students live a life or just studying. HOW BORING ! we need more entertainment! we are the next generation's leaders! we can't just be a bunch of muggers, but a group of thinkers! thinking outside the box! Innovative and Creative!
The size of singapore also contributes to fact that singapore has few entertainment centres. We do not have much land space to build a mega huge theme park nor the space to build more soccer fields. Its just generics that made singapore such a boring country.
Singapore is indeed a boring city, but, to a certain extent.
Take a trip around Singapore. What do you see? You see a lot of housing estates, roads, and heartland shopping malls. Maybe these are one of those common things that you'll see around Singapore. Even the tourists are interested with our housing estates.
Shopping malls in Singapore have turned from awesome to too boring. You can spot out identical shops from various shopping malls. Even the toilets, they all look the same! I feel that Singapore needs some creativity.
However, I can also see that Singapore is trying hard to make herself a fabulous city.
Now, you can see a lot of constructions going on in Singapore. Almost everywhere, you hear the 'drilling' sounds and you see the 'yellow boots'. But all this will change, like an ugly duckling transforms into a beautiful swan. Firstly, the Ferris wheel and casino is going to be ready, and there's also F1! Secondly, more shopping malls are on their way to Orchard Road, and most heartland shopping malls are making an 'extreme makeover'. Sentosa, too, is changing to attract more tourists, as well as locals. Singapore is also trying to build an IR. Lastly, roads around Singapore are very convenient and accessible for the tourists and the locals. This shows that Singapore is, maybe, boring for now, but maybe not for later years.
However, after the later years, will Singapore still be able to come out with something new? I hope so.
I feel that one of the main reasons why many think that singapore is a boring city is because there are too many rules and regulations in singapore. I remember the best times I had was in malaysia playing with fire crackers. Fire-crackers were not banned then. There are a thousand and one ways to blow things apart and we would put them inside cans, containers and my sister's school bag. She saw her bag being blown up. The image on her face. Priceless. The other reason is probably because of the society we live in. Standards of living are high, high expectations need to be met. Children rush to complete assignments, study for exams. Adults work from dawn to dusk. There are many interesting places in singapore but hardly any time for us to go. Maybe if we get rid of some of the laws and slow down our pace, Singapore would not be such a boring city.
I agree to a certian extent that singapore is a boring city.If a friend were to ask me where to play or go to in singapore. all i can think of is escape theme park, which is he only theme park in singapore. then next is sentosa, the teen are only interested in the siliso beach. for water activity is the wildwild wet which is just next to escape theme park. for concert wise is only esplanade and victoria concert hall. to a singaporean living half of his life here, it is consider boring o jus go to these few places.
Many foreigner who visited singapore once is already consider enough, resulting in decline foreigner coming to singapore. this is why the singapore government is introducing the integrated resort and F1 racing track.
One main attracion of singapore is that it is a well known food paradise. food from almost around the world can be found in singapore.what singapore need is a new attraction that other countries don't have and make us special, only then foreigner will choose to come to singapore.
singapore is a small country with limited land. most of the land are use for building flat, business and commercial uses. only a small part like sungei buloh and pulau ubin are kept. these two area are consider boring to most teen who are addicted to gaming and shopping rather than being ouside under the sun.
The shopping center in singapore are also quite limited. the biggest shopping area, orchard orthe vivo city are he only two places which most people do their shopping. but after awhile people will get bored of the same old places and the thing hey sold arealmos the same. you can find adidas shop in almost every shopping district.
Singapore is a boring city to a certain extent. There’s IR, F1 track, Ferris wheel coming up at the central of Singapore. Yes, building of these attracts more tourists to Singapore, but it does not last long as other countries also have these facilities. Tourists may gradually get bored of all these and also a waste of money to build the Ferris wheel and the F1 track.
Shopping malls in Singapore. Again, yes, there are a lot of them in Singapore, though they look different from the outside, but the shops in it are the same, such as, espirit, converse, mini toons and more. The things they sell are the same, so it does not matter where you go; the difference may just be the price and the size of the shop. Though it’s more convenient for people that the shopping mall is near where they are living, it is boring to have the same shops everywhere.
I am in Singapore seven months already. Singaporeans are so friendly. There are many other countries’ people come to Singapore. Some of them come here for traveling, the others for working. However, they come with their countries’ culture. You can find many countries’ food, their goods and so on. So ,Singapore is a interesting city.
On the other hands, the virescence is very good in Singapore. You can see trees and grasses everywhere. And there are a lot of sceneries. For example, sentosa, Singapore zoo etc.
So, in my opinion, Singapore is not a boring city. On the contrary, Singapore is a very interesting city.
I do agree to a certain extent that Singapore is a boring city. I can't deny the attractive places that Singapore have to attract tourists These places are such as Sentosa, the S'pore Zoo etc are wonderful. But what really makes Singapore a boring city is the taxes that Singaporeans have to pay. For Instant, cigrattes nowadays are very costly. In fact, cigrattes in other countries are very cheap. This is because they have their own tobacco productions. Unlike Singapore, we have to import cigrattes from these countries. And this result the cost of cigrattes in Singapore to be very costly. I'm sure that smokers in Singapore are unhappy about this issue.
In order for a city to be fun and interesting place, the residents in the city must must be happy about the living condition in the city.
Thus, i feel that paying tax is useless. It will be a great achievement if Singapore produce its own tobacco. By this, smokers don't have to pay tax. That will make Singapore a fun place to be in.

Governments are trying to make it a fun city, by introducing IR, F1. But soon in many years time, everybody will get tired too.

I disagree with the statement.
